Markus and Helen Wolf are Missionary Associates with AGWM in Ukraine. Markus was a children’s pastor for twelve years at Lake Michigan Christian Center until God called him to full-time missions. Markus has served in Ukraine as a missionary since 2005, working with Youth in Mission Kyiv, and has lead their orphan ministry for several years.
Helen grew up in the Soviet Union and came to Jesus when she was 15. Helen, the first believer in her family, endured physical abuse and persecution as a new Christian. This helped her develop a resilience and a strong dependence on God. From the start, she had a strong passion for evangelism and started an innovative ministry, preaching on the city commuter trains.
The Wolfs have a two layer ministry to the children in Ukraine. As a part of International Christian Assembly, they serve as children’s ministers to the international community. International Christian Assembly Kyiv is a global church focused on reaching internationals in Ukraine. Kyiv is a key city in Eastern Europe. Internationals come to Kyiv for business, education and government. Our role in the church is to develop the programs and disciple the newest generation of believers.
In addition to the work of the church, Markus and Helen focus on the lost children of Ukraine. There are sixty thousand children in the orphanage system in a nation the size of Texas. God has given Markus and Helen a heart to bring the Father to the fatherless. Many suffer hopelessness and fear for the future as they live the total dependence of orphanage life without understanding how to live in society. This is the purpose to which Markus came to Ukraine.
